Claude reset: check Claude Code usage and recovery
Editorially updated · Independent guide
Use /usage in Claude Code to inspect plan usage information, or check the usage screen in your Claude account. A new chat or /clear does not purchase more usage. Keep Claude recovery times separate from Codex announcements and use the limit information shown for your own subscription.
Resetting a conversation is a different action
Claude Code documents /reset as an alias for starting a fresh conversation. That is a context-management action. If the issue is a usage limit, inspect usage instead of repeatedly clearing a chat and losing useful context.
What to do
- Run /usage in Claude Code and identify the allowance that is limiting the task.
- Read the recovery information in the account interface, including its time zone.
- Save a reminder for that specific allowance. If the account offers paid usage or a reset benefit, read its terms before accepting it.
Scope & exceptions
- Commands and available benefits can differ by version and plan; use the current command menu.
- This guide does not promise a universal /limit-reset benefit or a shared global reset time.
