Codex: 5-hour window vs weekly limit
Editorially updated · Independent guide
Read each usage limit separately. Recovering one window does not establish that every other allowance is available. The current official pricing page lists five-hour estimates for Plus and Standard Business, while Pro currently has no five-hour limit; weekly limits may also apply. Check the live rules for your own plan.
Example: one window recovers first
Suppose the account display shows one allowance recovering this afternoon and another on Friday. An afternoon reminder is useful for the first allowance, but it should not promise that Friday’s allowance is available. Label the reminders by window so the shorter timer cannot be mistaken for a full account reset.
What to do
- Identify the specific exhausted allowance in the usage dashboard.
- Save separate recovery times for each window your account actually shows.
- After a recovery or reward redemption, refresh the dashboard before changing your reminders.
Scope & exceptions
- Not every plan exposes the same set of windows. Do not manufacture a five-hour timer for an account that has no such limit.
- A context-window percentage measures conversation capacity; it is not the same as your remaining subscription allowance.
