When does Codex reset?

Editorially updated · Independent guide

Check the reset time in your own Codex usage dashboard or CLI /status. A personal usage window, a public global-reset announcement and a banked reset are different things. A community countdown cannot tell you exactly when your account will recover.

Which reset are you waiting for?

Personal windowUse the reset time attached to the limit in your account.
Global eventRead the source post, its date and eligibility; then check your account.
Banked resetLook for an available reward and its redemption terms in your account.

If the countdown reaches zero

Refresh the official usage display before starting a large job. If it still reports a limit, check which allowance is exhausted and whether you are in the intended account or workspace. Do not repeatedly change your computer clock: it does not control a server-side allowance.

What to do

  1. Open your official usage dashboard, or enter /status in an active Codex CLI session.
  2. Record each limit label, remaining allowance, reset date and time zone that your account displays.
  3. Enter your weekly reset time in the homepage personal-window tool. Recheck it after a public reset or a manual redemption.
