Codex free reset: what you can actually check
Editorially updated · Independent guide
“Free reset” can mean waiting for an allowance to recover, receiving a promotional benefit, or looking for access on the Free plan. These are separate questions. This site cannot grant resets, and an old promotion is not evidence that a free reset is currently available to your account.
Choose the right next action
| Waiting for normal recovery | Save the time already displayed in your account. |
|---|---|
| Checking a promotional reset | Read the current offer and check whether the reward is present. |
| Comparing Free and paid access | Use current official plan information; do not infer limits from someone else’s screenshot. |
Can changing devices reset usage?
Do not plan around reinstalling an app, clearing local storage or opening another browser. Those actions can remove your local preferences and saved timers; they are not documented redemption steps for a quota reward. Follow the account’s own recovery or benefit flow.
What to do
- If you reached a limit, check the recovery time attached to it in your usage dashboard.
- If you saw a promotion, open its current official terms and verify eligibility and expiry.
- If a reward appears in your account, read what it changes before redeeming it.
Scope & exceptions
- The word “free” in a search result does not establish that Free-plan users qualify for a particular paid-account event.
- Do not pay a third party or share a session token to unlock an alleged reset.
